While at the Daily Universe, I was assigned the local politics beat. This required me to be aware of local issues and maintain communication with community and neighborhood leaders such as Provo and Orem city councils and local activists. I covered, among other things, controversy surrounding the proposal to develop Utah Lake, decisions by the Provo City Council to restrict future construction of affordable student housing, and the U.S. Senate race in Utah.
